Starting back on Jan 30th of this year Horizon/Spektrum released a service bulletin warning some DX6i radios could have potentially bad stick potentiometers. They described a process to inspect the radio yourself and see if service was needed.
Well now there have been two confirmed injuries due to the DX6i transmitter malfunctioning, so Horizon/Spektrum has initiated a full product recall for certain date codes. The date codes cover some 15,000 units of the DX6i.
To find out if your DX6i needs to be sent in as part of the recall. Open up the battery door, remove the batteries and find the date code. If no date code is present, then you are in the clear and no need to send in your transmitter.
If you have one of the following codes please contact Horizon/Spektrum and send in your radio ASAP.
